For my practical i have chosen to do a film opening with a thriller genre.. The first opening i have chosen to analyse is Saw 3.

I feel this film falls in to a thriller/horror genre. It starts with a mystery as to a torch on a gun lying blood-stained tile floor. Suddenly a scared panicing man appears stretching for the gun which asks many qeustions e.g. where this man is? who is he? The scene is also set dark to also add to the sense of mystery. I feel if we create a thriller opening we will need create a dark opening scene and ask questions to make the audience carry on watching. On our camera angles we will need to create hierachy as on thrillers there's usually good guys and bad guys. Sound is executed extremely well in this opening, the sound is really tense which pairs up with the tense opening scene. We will need sound in our opening if we want a tense atmosphere.
